A Port from 500 BC The city itself was founded as a port around 500 BC and was then called “Cyssus.” This was an important populated area that ran an extensive trade with neighbouring countries. Cesme means “fountain” in Turkish, the name came from the fact that the city is located in an area rich in various water sources. There is about 25,000 people living here today. Cesme offers everything needed for a charter holiday, basking in the sun, swimming in the Mediterranean, shopping, good food, and a wide range of discos and clubs. |
