Cesme in Turkey

The city Cesme is located on Turkey’s west coast, it is a charming destination that is mainly known for its beautiful beaches, hot springs, and good fish restaurants.

A Port from 500 BC
The city itself was founded as a port around 500 BC and was then called “Cyssus.” This was an important populated area that ran an extensive trade with neighbouring countries.

Cesme means “fountain” in Turkish, the name came from the fact that the city is located in an area rich in various water sources. There is about 25,000 people living here today.

Cesme offers everything needed for a charter holiday, basking in the sun, swimming in the Mediterranean, shopping, good food, and a wide range of discos and clubs.

A surfing paradise
In summer the wind blows constantly from north to south, which is ideal for surfers. So at their beach Alacati-Cark windsurfing schools with certified instructors are offered. This city has become one of the foremost in Europe for great windsurfing and here they arrange big water sport events now and then. The constant breeze in Cesme, which is ideal for windsurfing, has contributed to its popularity. When it is sizzling hot in other cities in Turkey during the summer months you will experience pleasantly cool weather in Cesme.

The beaches here are really beautiful and there are two nearby, one called Ilica, the largest and widest and the other is right in the center of town. It takes barely an hour to get there from the airport.
