Bodrum

Halicarnassus
Bodrum is in Turkey’s south west coast, and was formerly known as Halicarnassus; the ancient port city was probably founded in the 7th century BC and is a very captivating city.

Bodrum like Marmaris is a popular port for boaters in the Mediterranean Sea and has since 1960 evolved from a small fishing village into an exciting and interesting tourist center. Today, the city has plenty to offer to sun hungry tourists and the roughly 35,000 inhabitants.

Open all year round
Something that is a bit special about Bodrum is that unlike other Turkish resorts Bodrum is “open” all year round.
Offers are not taken away at the end of October as elsewhere, even if the pace is not as busy, many people still prefer to travel to Bodrum during October to March, to avoid overcrowding during the peak season.

The beach in this city is located on the east side and is narrow, but has in recent years broadened somewhat. If you are mostly interested in sunbathing and swimming then there are many beautiful bays along the coast, where the crowds are somewhat smaller. You can easily take a dolmus, or rent a bike to get to these bays.

The nightlife in this city is intense with a lot of choices, here is for example a bar street where you can grab a beer and sit with your feet in the ocean, as most bars have their terraces facing the sea.
