Shopping in Turkey

You will love what Turkey has to offer!
Even people who are not shoppers by nature will be tempted by the varied and unusual shopping opportunities that Turkey offers.
The luxurious shops and crowded streets are out of this world compared to studios and workshops in the smaller towns in rural areas.

Turkey is a paradise when it comes to shopping, but stick to articles that are manufactured in Turkey. Clothes are clearly branded copies, which is why they are so cheap. You can haggle with almost every product except goods with price tags on. This usually means that the goods have fixed prices and cannot be haggled.

Find cheap products…
If you are out to buy really cheap products then take a trip to the smaller towns where there is so-called “secondary range” clothing, at really cheap prices.
Turkish mats are a specialty for the country; the ancient art of weaving mats has been passed down from generation to generation. They were made originally to provide warmth and to decorate the home, the dowry chest, or as a gift to a mosque.

Sometime during your shopping spree, you will definitely be offered a Coca Cola, a cup of tea, or coffee by the shop assistant but this does not mean you have to spend money; it is just part of the culture. So make sure you allow yourself a quiet moment enjoying a drink during your shopping trip!

Retail opening hours in Turkey are usually 9am to 11pm, daily!

You just cannot miss the markets bazaars in Turkey; they are often open twice a week, the days vary from city to city. You will find that they sell pretty much anything, such as copper goods, jewelry, ceramics, water pipes, leather goods, textiles, and local delicacies. Haggling is allowed at the markets so you can pick up real bargains. Remember that the more you buy the lower the prices, so sometimes it pays to shop a lot!
